Rocko served up a "Good" single last week, but now the "UOENO" rapper is upping his output with a full-blown mixtape he calls Poet.
Flexing his lyrical skills across an eight-song soundscape, Rocko seems to mine similar themes on Poet. For instance, he talks about business models and people profiting off his street albums on strings-loaded, soul-samplin' opener "Controlled Substance" while coping with backstabbers on the laid-back and pensive "Pain." Elsewhere, he switches modes to salute his favourite lady on the early '90s-styled pop rap-cut "Phenominal Woman," and gets a big assist from rap great Nas on "Hustle."
