Well, it appears the rumours are true - Rock Plaza Central have at long last completed the follow-up to their wildly praised Are We Not Horses.
Via a MySpace posting, the Toronto, ON-based alt-folk troupe have announced the new record is scheduled to hit shelves on May 12 and comes boasting perhaps the longest album title ever, ...at the Moment of our Most Needing or If Only They Could Turn Around, They Would Know They Weren't Alone.
According to the band: "Much of [the record] is inspired by William Faulkner's Light in August, about a young woman who, at eight-and-a-half months pregnant, goes off in search of the man she thinks is in love with her. She has no shoes but she has faith. The record is perhaps my love song to her. Searching for her. About 13 months pregnant. And even when she rebukes me, I will know the world was good enough."
The album was recorded in the same studio as Are We Not Horses with the same group of players (minus member Rob Carson but with the addition of trumpeter Louis Apicello) and apparently will be self-released. New track "(Don't You Believe the Words of ) Handsome Men" is currently streaming on the band's MySpace page and down below you can see the album's confirmed tracklisting.
Rock Plaza Central also have a few live dates lined up in their home province of Ontario, including one with Akron/Family during the band's Hamilton stop.
