Rock Plaza Central Take a Break As Front-Man Chris Eaton Wraps Up New Novel

BY Josiah HughesPublished Dec 1, 2009

Now that the touring and press blitz for their recent ...At the Moment of Our First Needing, or If They Could Turn Around, They Would Know They Weren't Alone has died down, Toronto alt-folk mainstays Rock Plaza Central have announced that they'll be going on hiatus while front-man Chris Eaton finishes his new novel and gives birth to a child.

A press release from the band smugly suggested that Eaton's upcoming child is "as-yet-unnamed-and-unborn." It also explained that Eaton will be taking this downtime to complete his third novel. Tentatively titled Chris Eaton: a Biography (a novel by Chris Eaton), the book follows 25 characters, all named Chris Eaton, and "relies on coincidence and the biographical form to create a story about identity and how we see each other and ourselves."

Says Eaton in a statement, "I actually started the book while I was living in Panama four years ago, right before recording Are We Not Horses?, and then immediately got caught up in all these requests for us to come tour. But being on the road can be horrible on the kind of writing that I do, where I need my complete focus at all times."

No release date for Chris Eaton: a Biography has been announced, but excerpts from the book can be viewed here.
