River City Rebels

Playing To Live… Living To Play

BY Rob FerrazPublished Apr 1, 2002

The second record from this small-town Vermont septet far exceeds the promise shown on their debut, Racism, Religion and War. They’ve grown as a band into a sound that’s their own, not merely a reflection of their influences. And considering how young they are, it’s good to see that the success they’ve achieved over the past year hasn’t gone to their heads or messed with their music. The 14 songs on this are catchy as hell, and you’ll find the "whoa, whoas” bouncing around your brain after only a couple of spins. The River City Rebels are the puny kid brother of the Clash and Rocket From The Crypt who left town last year and now is back to kick your ass.
