Regina Folk Festival's Winterruption is back for 2022 to break the ice of the frigid prairie winter with a fiery concert series this January 26 to 29 — featuring performances by DijahSB, TEKE::TEKE, the Sadies, the Garrys, Julian Taylor, the North Sound, People of the Sun and Snake River.
While the live shows of the festival span from January 26 to 29, the event kicks off on January 22 with an outdoor skating party at the City Square rink. The free Winter Weather Get Together will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. — with skating, hot chocolate and a playlist full of winter favourites.
Winterruption's 2022 programming also includes online artist talks. These interviews and conversations with the musicians on this year's bill are hosted via Zoom and are also free for all to attend.
"It's been a hard couple of pandemic years and January can get a little gloomy, so we felt that it was important to get the joy of live music pumping in our veins again," artistic director Amber Goodwyn said in a statement. "We're encouraging folks to get vaccinated and to come on out to catch these super cool artists!"
The concerts will be split between two local venues: the Artesian and the Exchange. Tickets for the performances range from $20 to $30 each and are available for purchase here.
