Refused Reform... Kinda

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Jun 6, 2008

In a perfect world, the lead to this news item would tell you that iconic Scandinavian punkers Refused have reunited. But since Earth is a very flawed and cruel place, all we can do is give word that former Refused front-man Dennis Lyxzén and drummer David Sandström have joined forces once again, something that should still get that excitement flowing in those who miss their beloved Refused.

After parting ways in their hardcore act ten years ago, Swedes Lyxzén and Sandström have started a new project called AC4 along with two more of their fellow countrymen. The details about the project are scarce at this point, but thanks to Drowned in Sound, we do know AC4 are currently unsigned, have played a couple shows in their native Sweden and have a MySpace page (but, really, what band doesn’t).

Unfortunately, there are no new tracks you can download for a sampling of the shape of punk to come, but there is a live video posted AC4’s MySpace for you viewing pleasure. And by the look and sound of it, Lyxzén has dropped the pop-leaning tendencies of his new Lost Patrol project for that old noise, which should likely please all those old school Refused devotees out there.

As of yet, there is no word on any future AC4 album or tour dates outside Sweden.
