Reel Big Fish

Monkeys for Nothin' and Chimps for Free

BY Ty TrumbullPublished Aug 14, 2007

Reel Big Fish’s newest album is pretty much par for the course and if you’re at all familiar with the Fish, you know what you’re getting into. That’s not to say that’s a bad thing, because undoubtedly you’ll be tapping your foot along by the time album opener "Party Down,” a song that epitomises the band’s sound, is done. An overwhelming sense of fun pervades this record from start to finish, even in its slightly more serious moments. Monkeys for Nothin’ demonstrates the band’s talent for writing good, catchy songs that combine elements of punk and ska while never taking themselves too seriously. This also comes with a pretty amusing "making of” DVD that, if nothing else, further demonstrates the band’s sense of humour and will make you chuckle.
