Red Hot Chili Peppers previously promised to release a barrage of new tracks in the coming months via a new 7-inch series, and now the first two songs from the campaign have emerged online.
"Strange Man" begins as a mellow, introspective tune, but the mood eventually picks up with distorted guitar licks and a funky jam before culminating in an effectively melodic, harmony-heavy final chorus.
"Long Progression" is a more rocking tune, although singer Anthony Kiedis's slowly unravelling pop melody means that the track remains relatively restrained and bears a passing resemblance to previous RHCP cut "C'mon Girl" (from 2006's Stadium Arcadium).
A 7-inch featuring these two tracks will drop on August 14. Read more about the singles series here.
