Raekwon's 20-week #TBT series of soul-sampling tracks came to an end yesterday (October 30) when the Chef supplied listeners with "Zoom/Free." Those songs had, however, only been available to stream, so as a Halloween treat, the rapper has lumped the whole project together as a downloadable mixtape called We Wanna Thank You.
As previously reported, the Wu Tang rapper has been pumping out cuts since June that reworked old-school soul and R&B samples. The template was basically Rae rolling off a quick set of bars and then letting the source material play out for a minute. Artists he celebrated included Teena Marie, the Commodores, Luther Vandross, the O'Jays, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder and more.
