Swirling guitars, shoegazing moments and spacey vocals abound on Quest For Fire's second full-length album, Lights From Paradise. Boasting a veteran line-up (Chad Ross and Andrew Moszynski of the Deadly Snakes and Mike Max from Canadian metal monoliths Cursed), the album is deep with talent. "Sessions of Light" ends the eight-song LP with a ripping guitar solo that wails and emotes as well as any vocal line, and "In the Place of a Storm" features metronome-precise drumming. But the album lacks energy and the moments that have you scrambling to rewind. Tracks such as "Psychic Seasons" and "The Greatest Hits by God" just fade into the background, leaving no impact. Even with flashes of brightness ("Strange Vacation"), Lights From Paradise does little to inspire repeat listens.
