Buzzed about DIY duo PWR BTTM released their sophomore LP Pageant yesterday (May 12), but in the wake of sexual assault allegations (and a detailed account of said allegations) against the band's Ben Hopkins, Polyvinyl has ceased distribution of the record.
The label has been offering refunds to people who pre-ordered the album before the allegations were made public on May 11, but officially announced their decision to drop the band today (May 13).
In a message shared via social media, Polyvinyl confirmed that they will no longer sell and distribute PWR BTTM's music, reinforcing company philosophy that "everyone deserves to be treated with fairness and respect" and that "there is absolutely no place in the world for hate, violence, abuse, discrimination or predatory behaviour of any kind."
The label will continue to offer refunds on all PWR BTTM products, and should you wish to receive one, you can contact mailorder@polyvinylrecords.com.
Polyvinyl also announced that they would be making donations to organizations like RAINN and AVP, which support efforts against sexual violence and violence against members of the LGBTQ community.
