After scaling a new musical peak with 2020's Palimpsest, Protest the Hero are back at work on new material for a follow-up.

On Instagram yesterday, the Ontario outfit revealed they are in the process of demoing new songs, sharing a photo of a session on Instagram. It remains unclear who will drum on the tracks, following the 2022 departure of drummer Mike Ieradi after nearly a decade with the band.

In the caption, guitarist Luke Hoskin wrote, "Began the long journey of demoing new tunes this week! This journey almost always begins with absolutely punishing @climft in the engineer's seat. No idea what this release will look like in the end, but we got 8 songs in the bag and work continues..."

Whether a new full-length, or a shorter release like 2015's Pacific Myth, we're excited to hear what's next.

In 2021, Hoskin announced that he would no longer tour with Protest the Hero, shifting instead to a studio role with the group through which he continues to write and record.

Those touring lineup changes also saw guitarist Ben Davis (The Kindred) and bassist Henry Selva (The Human Abstract) join PTH for a recent North American tour, joining co-founding vocalist Rody Walker and guitarist Tim MacMillar.
