Princess Superstar is currently in her renaissance era after her excellent 2007 mashup with Mason, "Perfect (Exceeder)," was featured on the soundtrack of Saltburn. Though she's receiving her flowers for the track now, she apparently hasn't always been given full credit for her contribution.

For context, "Perfect (Exceeder)" puts the rapper and DJ's vocals from her 2005 single "Perfect" over Mason's track "Exceeder" from the following year. The result is an indie-sleaze classic, though Princess Superstar says she was blindsided through the mashup's promotional run.

On the rapper and DJ's TikTok, a fan commented asking why she isn't featured in the song's music video — which shows three women in '80s exercise garb working out while singing the track. Princess Superstar's first answer was, "They said I was too ugly... Joke!"

In the video, she describes the mashup process, saying someone took her acapella and set it to "Exceeder." "Ministry of Sound, the record label, took it, put it together, and made that video without me in it, even though I had signed a contract that said I had creative control over my own video," she explains.

Then, she claims, her label pretended the women from the music video were Princess Superstar: "They made that video without my consent, did not put me in it, and sent those three girls on tour as Princess Superstar. I mean, can you imagine as an artist what I felt like? Devastated."

Despite her initial saltiness, Princess Superstar says she has released her grudge: "I have since forgiven. I have prayed and meditated and let go of resentment because you know record labels are just doing what they wanna do, that's the story of, you know, forever."

In the comments of the TikTok, she clarifies that she was still paid for her contributions to the track, and that she still makes money off of its royalties. When a commenter asked why she didn't sue, she replied, "Costs too much."

Princess Superstar also mentioned that her current label, Armada Music, is "lovely," and liked a few comments telling her to release her own mix — meaning we're closer than ever to "Perfect (Bath Water Mix)."
