Portishead have been more or less dormant for a long time — since the release of 2008's Third, to be exact — but there's been some pretty significant movement from the band lately. Last month, they played their first show in seven years, Beth Gibbons pulled a memorable guest spot on Kendrick Lamar's Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers and, last week, the trio digitized their entire catalogue and re-uploaded their YouTube archive in HD.
Is there a new album on the horizon? A tour? Maybe just a one-off single? Perhaps. But for now, we get this: Portishead have announced a new collaboration with streetwear brand Stüssy, with a T-shirt arriving this Friday.
The shirt features the iconic cover art of 1994's Dummy, and will be available "worldwide at select chapter stores, select Dover Street Market locations and stussy.com on Friday, June 24th at 10 a.m. PST."
Stüssy described the T-shirt as "the first time the band, formed in Bristol in 1991, has worked with a clothing company during their thirty-year career." That isn't exactly true, as Supreme released a Portishead collaboration — a T-shirt that incorporated the band's signature logo font — in 2011.
Either way, check out a tweet from Stüssy announcing the collab below.
