Population II Return with New EP 'Serpent Échelle'

The Montreal-based trio play Toronto on tour next month

Population II have detailed a new EP. The Montreal-based trio will share Serpent Échelle on April 19 via Bonsound.

Following last year's sophomore full-length Électrons libres du québec, the four-track Serpent Échelle (Snakes & Ladders) is said to find Population II exploring "wilder, more adventurous sounds and a heavier atmosphere," per a release.

You can hear the trio stake out their new sonic territory with "R.B." Shifting between an alluring groove and commanding, fuzzed-out riffing, the single arrives today alongside a grayscale video by Didier Pigeon-Perreault and Hugo Jeanson.

Following appearances at SXSW this month, Population II will support Meatbodies on tour through Canada and the US, making a stop at Toronto's Garrison on April 23. You can find their 2024 tour dates below.

Pre-order and pre-save Serpent Échelle. The EP will be treated to a run of limited edition cassette tapes in addition to its digital release.
