When the Groovie Ghoulies called it quits two years ago they left a void in the "pop punk band that sing about monsters" world. Luckily, the Popsters have stepped up to fill that void, playing a style of pop punk somewhere between old Screeching Weasel and the Ergs. While the band definitely know the importance of a good hook, there's enough rawness on Our Bites Bring You Back to prevent this record from becoming your run-of-the-mill bubblegum pop affair. Songs like "Bored Robots," while lyrically pretty funny, musically rock with a sense of sincerity that will have you feeling for those inanimate killing machines. The Popsters know how to write a good pop song but they also know how to rock, and that's what makes this record so fun.
