As previously reported, Montreal's MUTEK festival already boasts an impressive cast of electronic talents for its 2011 edition, including Amon Tobin, Four Tet, Modeselektor and many others. Now, the festival organizers have gone above and beyond expectations, stacking the lineup with a batch of other artists, including Canadian techno legend and recent Exclaim! Timeline subject Richie Hawtin.
Hawtin will be performing under his Plastikman moniker, but more than that, he will be presenting Plastikman Live, a state-of-the-art live show created in collaboration with visual architects Derivative and Minus, alongside visual designer Ali Demirel. A press release explains that they worked together to "develop the technology that would realize [Hawtin's] vision of a show that would fully explore the convergence of sound, lighting, visuals and human interactivity."
Hawtin toured Plastikman Live around the globe in 2010, but this marks the Canadian debut for the project. In addition to Plastikman, MUTEK have added performances from Murcof, Purform, Pole, Deadbeat, Lillevan, Sol Del Rio, Chancha, Badawi and Arp.
MUTEK will run June 1 to 5 in Montreal. The full lineup can be viewed here, while early bird festival passes have been extended to April 20 and can be purchased here.
