The Pipettes

Along with the Dansettes and Mary Weiss (Shangri-Las), the Pipettes were part of a strong ’60s flavoured girl group resurgence that was everywhere at this year’s SXSW. No one would know it from the promo shots, but the Pipettes are actually a seven-piece band; the Brighton pop group are comprised of the trio of sassy vocalists in the front and a quartet of nerdy mathletes (also known as the Cassettes) backing them up. Putting on one of the most fun performances of the festival, the Pipettes charmed audiences with their retro choreography, matching polka-dotted outfits and playful songs from their debut long-player like "Your Kisses Are Wasted on Me” and "Dirty Mind.”
