After a busy, energy-burning five days packed full of concerts, music crawls, panel talks and record fairs, Pilot to Bombardier's low-key, laidback folk-rock set was a nice way to ease Lawnya Vawnya patrons back into real life: "It's been a long time coming," they sang.

A local outfit, they reflected the effortless and thoughtful musicality of St. John's, where seemingly straight-ahead folk music is bolstered by thoughtful ambient textures, propulsive rhythms and harmonies that mesh in an almost familial manner. It was a nice Sunday night respite from the madness, seeing this band bring Lawnya Vawnya's still buzzing patrons back to Earth and a sense of calm.
