Pierced Arrows

Descending Shadows

Portland, OR has a reputation for dishing out some influential bands such as the Wipers or Dandy Warhols and like their predecessors, Pierced Arrows are noteworthy proprietors to the renowned scene. Teetering between stoner rock and garage rock, with a punk edge, the songs differ from balls-out to burnout, while paying homage to the bloodied but unbowed groups that have carried the torch before them. Album opener "This is the Day" drips the rabid force of the Dead Boys, while "On the Move" is a nod to AC/DC's Bon Scott days and "Zip My Lip" carries the same snot nosed flare as the Viletones in their prime. Sure, Pierced Arrows aren't doing anything mind-blowingly original, but they definitely know what rock'n'roll is all about, and Descending Shadows is proof that when their forefathers were blazing the trail, these boys were listening.
