Phoebe Bridgers Responds to the Debate over Her Smashing Her Guitar on 'SNL'

"I told danelectro I was going to do it and they wished me luck and told me they're hard to break"

Phoebe Bridgers smashed her guitar on Saturday Night Live this weekend, and it earned big reactions on social media — some positive, some negative, and some simply pointing out that she wasn't particularly successful in actually smashing her guitar. Now, the singer-songwriter herself has waded into the Twitter discourse, admitting that the sturdy guitar was extremely difficult to smash.

Bridgers apparently warned guitar company Danelectro that she was going to smash one of their instruments, and they told her ahead of time that it would be difficult to do. In a back-and-forth with Jason Isbell, Bridgers said:

She also revealed that SNL made her break the guitar over a fake stage monitor (which sent sparks flying everywhere). Tweeting with Canadian singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards, Bridgers said:
