People Are Posting TikTok Thirst Traps to a 2014 Nickelback Song

"She Keeps Me Up" is going viral for all the right reasons

Nickelback are bringing sexy... you know, back. (Like "Sexyback"? Anyway.)

The bewildering TikTok algorithms have once again produced a real gem of a trend from seemingly out of nowhere. A sound byte of "She Keeps Me Up," a single from Nickelback's 2014 album No Fixed Address, is currently soundtracking a bunch of people's transformations into saucy minxes.

Since we finally learned how to pronounce Chad Kroeger's name as the anticipation builds for the hard rockers' first new album in five years, there's no better time for a funky disco-rock joint from eight years back to come out of the woodwork and threaten to send the masses to horny jail. And everyone on the clock app loves a good dance routine, a snap transition and a glow-up, so why not combine them all?

The video trend sees individuals (usually dressed casually in pyjamas or whatever) transform before our very eyes with the flip of their hair as the chorus kicks in — with Kroeger crooning, "Funky little monkey, she's a twisted trickster / Everybody wants to be the sister's mister."

"She Keeps Me Up" sticks out in this writer's memory because it was made in true CanCon collaboration with Josh Ramsay (of Marianas Trench), and 2014 was definitely before the Nickelback-are-actually-good sentiment started flowing. How you remind me, indeed.

The 'back seem rightfully surprised by the song's resurgence too. "Thanks for all the love on 'She Keeps Me Up,'" they tweeted yesterday (October 11). "That one was pretty unexpected!"

Like Hudson Mohawke's "Cbat" before it, "She Keeps Me Up" is maybe not your textbook sex jam — but hey, whatever works for TikTok.
