A track from Mohawke's 2011 EP Satin Panthers is having a moment of virality over a decade on from its release, after a Reddit user claimed that it purportedly ruined sex with their partner, who called it "weird and a major turn off."
In what could easily be a top-tier shitpost in the TIFU (Today I Fucked Up) community, user u/TylerLife shares how his girlfriend of two years had taken issue with a particular song in the list of sex jams "which actually happens to be my favourite."
Recalling the admirable pursuit of building a list of songs "in which I was comfortable matching the rhythm" to spice things up, he shared how "sex feels awkward now" after his partner expressed her displeasure with the playlist pick.
"I thought this song was perfect and I always thrust along with the tune and feel it gives me the perfect rhythm for doing the deed to," he wrote, adding, "The other day we were having sex with no music but I was still thrusting to the tune playing in my head. She [recognized] this and asked me to stop."
The situation becomes more hilarious upon learning the tune in question is "Cbat," a song Exclaim! likened to "Ween-goes-electronic" in our review of Satin Panthers upon its release, and that u/TylerLife clearly feels is "a good love making song with good rhythm."
Press play, and Mohawke's recognizable, emotive synth brass gives way to a short snare build, which then pivots into a warped melody that commenters have deemed "robot dolphin sounds" or the sound of "an inflatable clown toy falling down the stairs."
