Nickelback Unveil First New Album in Five Years, Share Lead Single "San Quentin"

Time to get rollin' those coins

Back to school? More like back to the 'Back! With an engine roar heard 'round the world, Nickelback have announced their 10th studio album and shared their previously teased, heavy-as-hell new single "San Quentin."

Get Rollin' gets to doing just that on November 18 via BMG. It follows the band's 2017 LP Feed the Machine.

"We've spent the last few years making a record at a pace that gave us the freedom to create and we can't wait for everyone to hear the new music," Nickelback said in a press release. "We've missed the fans and look forward to bringing the new songs to life on stage, so let's Get Rollin'!"

Inspired by bandleader Chad Kroeger's chance encounter with a "real-life warden," as press notes put it, from the notorious high-security prison in California at Guy Fieri's birthday party (perhaps the most thought-provoking event one could possibly attend), "San Quentin" imagines the graph-gazer plotting an escape route.

"Let the record show / I did it all for rock 'n' roll," he offers in his signature croon atop a guitar melody that is indeed heavy and primed for stadium-sized pyrotechnics.
