The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have been fairly quiet over the last year or two, but they've stayed on our radar with a smattering of goodies like a remix EP, covers 7-inch and recent music video. Now, it looks as if the fuzz-loving indie-pop charmers are close to completing their third full-length.
Today (December 4), the group shared an Instagram photo of frontman Kip Berman clutching a guitar while surrounded by musical equipment. The caption reads, "In London finishing LP3 with @andy_savours."
Andy Savours is a British producer who has worked with acts like Sigur Rós, the Killers and Puscifer.
A few prior social media updates have also suggested that the group have something now in the works. Back in the summer, Berman was pictured in what appeared to be a recording studio; the photo location indicated that the shot was taken at New York's House Under Magic studio, a facility that's owned by returning collaborator Danny Taylor.
A few days after that, the band posted a short video clip showing percussion instruments with the caption, "2009: fuzz pedals & reverb. 2013: rain stick & shells."
There's no word as to when the album will be out, what it will be called or what it will sound like, but it seems safe to say that we'll be hearing more from the Pains before long.
