On sophomore Wolfpack Party, likable West Coast rap weirdoes the Pack have ditched the songs about skateboards and sneakers that filled their early releases and focused on making an album filled to capacity with borderline ridiculous sex rhymes. But while there are literally thousands of MCs out there kicking X-Rated rhymes, the Pack set themselves apart by delivering every line with a knowing smirk. Like Kool Keith and Luke before them, the Pack are at least partially aware of the fact that, when it comes to sex talk, they're not really keeping it real; they're creating some sort of porn-y, comic book fantasy world. Whether they're trying to break the record for ejaculation references in one song ("Sex on the Beach"), stealing girlfriends ("ET" and "One U Need") or just straight-up fucking bitches in the club on the title track, the Pack go out of their way to make every sexcapade come off as over the top as possible. Add in an almost endless parade of 808-heavy beats that are equal parts 2 Live Crew and Giorgio Moroder, and it becomes clear that Wolfpack Party isn't your garden-variety dirty rap record. It's four young rappers playing a prank on the audience, and making an incredibly entertaining, ass-shaking summer party album in the process.
