The Olympic Symphonium

"Seize the Day" on Exclaim! TV

Symphonium is a portmanteau, combining symphony and symposium into one word signifying a musical meeting. While symphonies usually tend to be for full orchestras, The Olympic Symphonium got a few collaborators closer to that on their latest LP, Chance to Fate, which marked the first time the trio had brought in outsiders for the writing process.

The Fredericton, NB group took their bolstered band, complete with lap steel guitarist Dennis Goodwin and drummer Bob Deveau, to Toronto to perform album opener "Seize the Day" for Exclaim! TV.

Seize the day they did, as the performance perfectly encapsulated what the Olympic Symphonium are all about. Watch as the calming and cool session takes over the Exclaim! office, as the core trio's relaxing harmonies mingle alongside the band's haunting lap steel and subtle drumming.

The Olympic Symphonium have a couple of festival dates coming up, with Paddlefest and Ham Jam taking place in St. Andrews, NB and Kars, NB respectively in the near future.

In the meantime, make your own day by checking out "Seize the Day" on Exclaim! TV.
