Noel Gallagher Wants to Petition Foo Fighters to Break Up

Dave Grohl and the band recently wanted Oasis to reunite

Foo Fighters crossed the pond last weekend to headline the U.K.'s Reading Festival and made sure to pay homage to Oasis during their stay.

Drummer Taylor Hawkins had fixed a photo of the Gallagher brothers to his bass drum head, and it wasn't long before he and Dave Grohl proposed starting a petition to get Oasis back together.

As you can see below, Grohl asked the Reading audience, "How many people wanna see Oasis fucking play a show?" to raucous applause.
News of the Foos' modest proposal eventually found its way back to Noel Gallagher, who acknowledged the petition onstage in San Diego last night (August 28) while supporting Smashing Pumpkins with his High Flying Birds.

In what shouldn't be a surprise, Noel wasn't quite onboard with the reunion plans. "I'd like to start a petition to get Foo Fighters to split up, if that were at all possible," he told the audience.

Even if we never get a beef-free Oasis reunion, Liam Gallagher has put forth a compelling pitch for a stage adaptation of the band's career. Grohl and Foo Fighters could release a new album in 2020. The frontman also recently revealed he will not be on a forthcoming album from Queens of the Stone Age.
