Vancouver's Patrick Fiore — a.k.a. Noble Oak — has released his follow-up to 2020's Horizon. When It Finds You arrives today via Last Gang / MNRK, and you can listen to it in full below.
Written, recorded, produced, mixed and directed by Fiore himself, the album finds the classically trained pianist culling his "thoughts, dreams, faults, failures, fears, hopes and wishes" across its 13 tracks, exploring the depths of his own psyche, as well as the world around him. "The songs say everything I'm too scared to say out loud for fear of burdening others," Fiore explained in a press release.
He continued, "There are confusing moments I'm trying to rationalize or explain. I don't have the urge to get a camera in front of my face and go off ad nauseam on the internet. I generally don't feel like I could pen a novel either. However, I can definitely write a song. I explain everything I have a hard time saying aloud."
Having already previewed the record with singles "Tides Turn," the Taylor Swift- and War of Drugs-informed "Anywhere But Here," "Your Favourite Place" and "River's Edge," Fiore now shares the full album, as well as Brian Ceci-directed visuals for "Eveningstar" — a song "of gratitude and longing for precious moments in our memory."
"We sometimes find ourselves clinging dearly to the connections we make and coaxing them to stay in our world," the artist shared of the track. "Naturally, the impermanence of all things will greet us there, too."
Fiore will take his new album on the road this summer, with tour dates — including stops in Victoria, Toronto and Montreal — kicking off today at Vancouver's Khatsahlano Festival.
