As every good Nirvana fan knows, this September will mark the 20th anniversary of the band's classic Nevermind. Originally released on September 24, 1991, the album will receive a deluxe reissue on September 27 of this year via Universal Music (it was originally slated for release on September 20). Now, we have some more details about what will be included in the package.
The reissue will be available in a standard digital and CD remaster of the original album, along with a deluxe edition and a "super deluxe edition." According to a press release, the deluxe edition will be a double-CD release including the original album, its B-sides and, for the first time, an official release of the pre-Nevermind demos recorded with Butch Vig. A press release also states that it will include boombox recordings "through which the listener can actually experience 'Smells Like Teen Spirit,' 'Come As You Are,' 'On a Plain' and others take shape before his or her very ears."
The super deluxe edition, on the other hand, will include everything on the deluxe edition, as well as Butch Vig's original mix of the album, also known as the Devonshire Mixes. On top of that, there are live recordings of Nirvana's 1991 Halloween concert at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle. That will be available on CD and DVD. As if that weren't enough, the super deluxe edition will also include a 90-page booklet in this four-CD/one-DVD package.
There will also be a 180-gram vinyl version of all the tracks featured on the deluxe edition, which will span over four LPS, as well as a stand-alone DVD and Blu-ray release of the Paramount concert film.
