Thanks to the failed meme work of one Donald J. Trump, Canadian hard rockers Nickelback are as relevant as ever. But while one might be tempted to go down the easy path of dunking on their grunty butt rock, Nickelback jokes are as hack as they get. Just ask founding Nirvana member Krist Novoselic.

Fox News took a shot at mocking Chad and the boys on a recent broadcast, with a pundit describing them as "emo-pop ballad '90s rock" (?) and likening their music to socialism (??). The clip was shared by Parker Molloy:

Love 'em or hate 'em, of course, there would be no Nickelback without Nirvana's marriage of grunge aesthetics and catchy pop songwriting. It just so turns out that Nirvana bassist Novoselic absolutely loves the 'back. He pointed out that they're actually a "power pop rock band," adding, "I love them!!!!" He also took the opportunity to advocate for a kind of centrist political outlook.

Read his Nickelback endorsement below. Here's hoping this means we get the Nirvana/Nickelback crossover we've always dreamed of.
