New Order are officially back in the studio together.
Bassist Tom Chapman — who replaced founding member Peter Hook when the band reunited back in 2011, resulting in a bitter legal battle that finally reached a settlement in 2017 — has taken to Twitter today to nonchalantly reveal that the group are currently writing new music.
It began with a tease from guitarist Phil Cunningham, who shared a fog-filled, from-behind photo capturing what appears to be a live performance on March 29. He cryptically captioned it, "Shapes of things to come."

Today, a fan replied, noting that the outfit had been quiet and asked if something new was in the works. Chapman responded, writing: "Yes we are in the studio writing..."
There's lots of writing going on in general for him, we suppose. We'll admit to being slightly more intrigued by the new musical material being crafted by the Joy Division successors than their bassist's tweets, but still.
Check out Chapman's tweet below and whet your appetite for the new New Order you ordered.

The band are slated to make their way to Toronto and Vancouver on tour with the Pet Shop Boys this fall. Alternatively, you can also catch Hook and the Light playing Joy Division in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver this August and September.
