Neko Case Shares Cover of Roky Erickson's "Be and Bring Me Home"

In honour of Record Store Day, the estate of late the 13th Floor Elevators leader and psychedelic-rock legend Roky Erickson — alongside archival label Light in the Attic — are releasing May the Circle Remain Unbroken: A Tribute to Roky Erickson on vinyl. Ahead of its official release on July 17, they've shared a striking cover from the New Pornographers' Neko Case.

Her selection "Be and Bring Me Home" is a song from 1974 that Erickson re-recorded with Okkervil River in 2010 for True Love Cast Out All Evil. Her pared-down version and precise vocal inflection stirringly highlights Erickson's lyrics.

May the Circle Remain Unbroken marks the first-ever tribute album to the spearhead of psych, who died in 2019. As previously reported, the compilation also includes renditions of Erickson classics from Jeff Tweedy, Ty Segall, Chelsea Wolfe, Lucinda Williams, the Black Angels, Billy Gibbons and Margo Price.

Listen to Case's cover and check out the full tracklist for May the Circle Remain Unbroken below.
