Regardless of whether or not he sues Donald Trump, Neil Young continues to forge ahead boldly with his massive slate of archival projects. While his bootlegs will soon see the light of day alongside once-vaulted LPs like Homegrown, he's now detailed more imminent goodies for his faithful listeners.
Today on his Neil Young Archives, the iconic Canadian laid out plans to release a series of outtakes, listing five songs from 1963 through 1977 that will soon find a home on his website. Young writes that the five songs "are in production and we will announce them when they are up."
The oldest of the five songs is "Runaround Babe," which Young identifies as a demo from his Buffalo Springfield days. His list also includes a previously unreleased version of "The Loner," which did not appear on Tuscaloosa, his 1973 live album with the Stray Gators which saw release last year.
What jumps out of the list are three outtakes from celebrated Young albums Harvest and Tonight's the Night. From the former, versions of "Bad Fog of Loneliness" and "Dance, Dance, Dance" recorded and Quad Studios in Nashville will see release, while a song titled "One More Sign" recorded at S.I.R. in Hollywood will come form the latter.
When the tracks are ready, they'll be able to be found in the Cabinet section of NYA. Earlier this year, Young had also planned for live album/film projects Return to Greendale, Rust Bucket and Young Shakespeare to all arrive this year.
