An official memorial celebration to honour late Rush icon Neil Peart has been postponed once again due to COVID-19 restrictions.
After announcing last August that the St. Catharines tribute event would be moved to April 2021, organizers have now pushed "A Night for Neil" to November 6.
In a statement, both nonprofit Overtime Angels and event hosts at the Meridian Centre write that they "will be evaluating any quarantine protocols or travel restrictions to Canada three months prior to the new date so that all the fans who have purchased tickets have a reasonable amount of time to reschedule any associated travel/hotel reservations."
Previously purchased tickets for "A Night for Neil" will be honoured at the new date, while refunds are available at point of purchase up to 30 days prior to the event.
As previously reported, artists and special guests confirmed for the event include David Barrett, Brandon Dyke, Rush tribute bands Solar Federation and Permanent Waves, Dévah Quartet, Jacob Moon and Hannah Burkholder, with further names to be announced.
In 2020, Peart was honoured in St. Catharines with the naming of a pavilion in his old stomping grounds. A bronze statue of the late artist could also make its way to the city in due time.
Peart passed away in January following a battle with brain cancer. He was 67. Recently, bandmates Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson reflected on the artist's final years in a new interview.
