It's election season, so naturally, Nardwuar is gearing up by collecting records for — and gathering little-known facts about — Canada's federal candidates. First up on his list is NDP leader Jagmeet Singh.
As is customary, Nard met up with Singh to gift him a couple of Canadian hip-hop records, including Rascalz's Northern Touch and Maestro Fresh Wes' Let Your Backbone Slide. Among some of Nardwuar's other gifts was a 3-LP collection of Native North American folk and country music, "An Anthem for Canada" presented by TransCanada PipeLines for Alberta's 75th anniversary and more.
During the video, the pair discussed Singh's favourite local dosa spot, wanting to be a wolverine when he was a kid, playing Among Us with AOC, and being afraid of ordering pizza on the phone while growing up in Windsor, ON — home of the country's most underrated pie.
But most importantly, Singh agreed to do the Hip Flip with Nardwuar — again!
Ahead of the Canadian election on September 20, Nardwuar says he also plans to meet up with Green Party leader Annamie Paul for another Hip-Flipping session. Liberal leader Justin Trudeau and Conservative leader Erin O'Toole have apparently yet to respond to his request.
