MyChildren MyBride

Unbreakable

BY Dave SynyardPublished Mar 17, 2008

MyChildren MyBride introduce themselves as Unearth knock-offs right from the get go with an ascending riff into dual guitar and double bass on "Faithless,” which is exactly what took place during "Zombie Autopilot” on The Oncoming Storm. MyChildren MyBride’s debut album, aside from some plagiarism, is put together on a strong foundation of metal and hardcore. The use of their talented guitar duo of Kyle Ray and Robert Bloomfield is the saving grace, offering a ton of duelling strings, talented finger work and muted chugs. One undeniable problem is their overuse of breakdowns, found far too regularly throughout. Unbreakable’s sound is derivative, offering nothing new or different, and what’s being heard is not entertaining enough to spend 40 minutes listening to.
