MSTRKRFT

Fist of God

Hitting with emotional impact (like an Armand Van Helden house track), MSTRKRFT's sublime electronic melody is partnered with gorgeous vocal work by L'il Mo on album opener "It Ain't Love." Could this be the new electro anthem for women whose men are jerks? It is the first track on Fist of God by MSTRKRFT (aka Al-P and Jesse F. Keeler, or JFK), Toronto, ON's electronic mavens of badass party music. Alongside L'il Mo there are many skilled vocalists and MCs onboard this project, including N.O.R.E. (of NY's Capone and Noreaga) and Isis from Thunderheist (coming together on party track "Bounce"). This is deep beat-based music with amorous hooks in the big beat electro stratosphere. The songs hold humanistic wisdom to balance the hedonistic partying. "Heartbreaker," featuring John Legend, conveys with deep strength a man's experience with a woman who cheats (over a gorgeous, house-influenced piano rhythm). But it's not all tragic stories of love and loss. "So Deep," featuring Jahmal from the Carps, describes a woman whose beauty defies the norm. Expect Fist of God to reap a bounty at home and abroad.
