Montreal quartet Gulfer have dropped "Neighbours," a new one-off single released through Topshelf/Royal Mountain Records.
According to guitarist and vocalist Vincent Ford, the densely woven song is about processing a loved one's schizophrenia diagnosis, though he only comprehended the meaning after he'd finished the song.
"Neighbours" is in the same vein as their self-titled, with math-rock guitar noodling and a propulsive rhythm from bassist David Mitchell and drummer Julien Daoust.
The track arrives with its own Sacha Cohen-directed video, which finds the band mini-golfing, eating burgers and generally thrashing to the song's shifting time signatures and nimble guitar.
The clattering, energetic single follows the release of the group's third record, Gulfer, which arrived in 2020.
