Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger is currently recovering from a successful heart valve replacement procedure.
According to Billboard, the singer received a non-invasive transcatheter aortic valve replacement in New York, and he will be recuperating in hospital for the next few days so that doctors can monitor him for any complications, like excess bleeding.
The recovery time for the minimally invasive procedure is expected to be much less than if Jagger had ended up going under the knife for surgery.
UPDATE (4/5, 4 p.m. EDT): A rep for Jagger has now issued the following statement: "Mick Jagger has successfully undergone treatment. He is doing very well and is expected to make a full recovery."
Jagger himself, meanwhile, has tweeted, "I'm feeling much better now and on the mend — and also a huge thank you to all the hospital staff for doing a superb job."
In a statement, Jagger said, "I'm devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on the road as soon as I can."
The tour was initially scheduled to kick off this month, but has now been postponed until an unspecified date.
