Drummer Jarod Gibson has been killing it in the Canadian underground scene for a couple years now thanks to stints drumming with beat-shaking noise rockers Odonis Odonis and Thighs. But now the avant-garde instrumentalist is going it alone for his new solo project, Michael Jacket. Find out what it's all about by streaming his debut album, Cruelty, in full ahead of tomorrow's (October 3) release on Not Unlike.
Following in the footsteps of fellow rhythmic contemporaries Black Dice and Don Caballero, as Jacket, Gibson supplies fractured beats and disjointed instrumentals over the entirety of the album's chaotic seven tracks.
Hear for yourself by checking out Cruelty in the player below, along with the accompanying video for the album's title track, which features a virtual protagonist getting all Second Life next to a well-known Toronto convenience store.
