Michael Feuerstack has detailed a new album. The Canadian singer-songwriter will deliver Eternity Mongers on April 19 via Forward Music Group.
Following 2021's Harmonize the Moon, the 12-track Eternity Mongers is described as an album "of wonder, and wondering," with Feuerstack's dozen inclusions born from a curiosity for the world around us, how we live and how we try to live within it.
Sonically, the songwriter aimed to capture "the live-off-the-floor production value of a Peel session" with qualities of music played back from a glowing diner jukebox, "warm and round but with a lively presence." Joining Feuerstack on the album are bassist Kyle Cunjak, drummer Michael Belyea, woodwind players Karen Ng and Tim Crabtree, and backing vocalists Erika Angell and Laurel Sprengelmeyer.

"When I was in my 20s and 30s, everyone around me [started] having children. Now that some time has passed, it's time for many of those children to leave home in the same way that we all once did," Feuerstack explained in a release. "That same feeling can be applied to different kinds of departures, and so I kept it a little bit vague to cover more ground. There is something vexingly inverted here in this particular portrayal of selflessness: it's a kind of selflessness that most people have to accept at some point in their lives. You don't rise to it, you fall into it."
