Late last year, Metric revealed plans to crowdsource fans for a remix project using 2009 album Fantasies as the source material. Now, the results of those efforts will comprise Fantasies Flashbacks, a deluxe album featuring the original studio album and remixes.
According to a press release, Metric were "overwhelmed by the quantity and quality of the remixes" and decided to "honour their fans' abundant talents and creativity" by turning Fantasies Flashbacks into a limited-edition vinyl box set.
Fantasy Flashbacks will include ten seven-inch singles containing an original Fantasies song on the A-side and a fan-created remix on the flip. It will also include a PlayButton digital music player loaded with the ten winning remixes, a digital download of Fantasies and Fantasies Flashbacks, two colour inserts featuring album info and fan art, and a glossy Metric poster. The release will be packaged in a custom box.
Fantasies Flashbacks will be available on October 11 via Metric Music International/Mom + Pop Music Co. All proceeds from the release will be donated to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
