Exclaim! TV's Garageland is back for a new year. This week, check out the latest videos on small-town living with the Menzingers, punk rock 101 with GBH and what it's like to wreck studios with A Wilhelm Scream. These episodes are all available for your viewing pleasure over at our Exclaim! TV section.
Pennsylvania's the Menzingers (pictured) are still hard at work pushing their latest record, Chamberlain Waits, which came out on Red Scare Industries early last year. Garageland host Sam Sutherland caught up with the melodic punkers and asked the band's Tom May and Greg Barnett about their hometown of Scranton, PA and the compromises that were made in order to keep the band on the road.
Legendary UK street punk grandfathers GBH have been going against the grain since punk's first wave in the late '70s. They've never flicked the killswitch and stayed faithful to their original sound. Frontman Colin Abrahall talks about not giving in to record labels, hanging out with Lars Frederiksen (of Rancid) when he was an 11-year-old and how touring in the early days compares to touring now.
Finally, A Wilhelm Scream have to be one of the hardest working bands in the hardcore punk scene these days, and it shows. Their fanbase has grown rapidly lately and this labour of love -- starting as early as 1993 in New Bedford, MA -- has come to fruition. Check out their energetic live performance and find out how recording their latest release themselves affected the band.
