The Melvins Prep Split 7-inch with Helmet

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Sep 27, 2013

The Melvins' busy 2013 has already offered up their covers set Everybody Loves Sausages and a live album for Third Man Records, while their Tres Cabrones LP with original drummer Mike Dillard comes our way November 4 through Ipecac Recordings. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the prolific sludge lords have yet another record on the way this year in the form of a split 7-inch with long-running post-hardcore unit Helmet.

A solid street date has yet to be locked down, but the two-song single should arrive later this fall via Amphetamine Reptile, for whom both bands have worked with over the years. The record will presumably be out before Melvins and Helmet head out for a joint Australian tour in December.

Info is a little slim at present, but Helmet are apparently delivering a "brand new track" for the 7-inch, while the Melvins' side will reportedly host "Dr. Mule," the track they served up earlier this year as a download for Scion A/V.

While we wait for the record to arrive, you can stream "Dr. Mule" down below.
