Megan Bonnell

Toronto, ON newcomer Megan Bonnell has introduced herself as a blanket ready to cover you in anticipation of daydreams. On these four songs, the soft, sometimes sombre piano blends with her lovely, interesting set of pipes to create a warm atmosphere. The slow percussion and distant strings also add some character; it's a very familiar sound, like it's coming to us from the past. Each song is very pretty, with catchy choruses, such as the controlled vocals she displays on "Lowell, MA," but they start to blend, going on a little long and with lyrics that aren't that engaging. This is a nice introduction to her style, but it's easy to look forward to stronger work in her future.
