Love Titan

Maxhole gives us a brief taste of his musicality with three-track Love Titan EP, and it's a jazzy, soulful and rootsy affair. The Toronto-based artist defines himself as a "queer mixed-Caribbean singer, producer, photographer and curator," and his musical mode is informed by neo-soul sounds (Sade, Erykah Badu, Frank Ocean) and an appreciation for the popular anime series Attack on Titan.

It's a mix that manages to mesh, and arrives thoughtfully packaged from a composition and sonic perspective. Lead single "Something Real" offers an electronic organ-powered number that revels in layered production rooted in jazz improv traditions, as it unfolds its tale of unaligned lovers in different spaces and places at the moment. "Love Isn't Enough" grooves along by way of its sexy bass line, smoky vocals and nifty composition. Finally, "Friends" wraps things up with its wind instrumentation, bass groove and otherworldly sonics, as it takes stock of relationship dynamics.

Maxhole is onto something here and future output is hopefully forthcoming forthwith.
