From May 7 to May 9, Simpsons creator Matt Groening curated Minehead, England's latest edition of the ATP Festival. The line-up featured independent musicians from across the spectrum, including Iggy Pop, Built to Spill, Deerhunter, Shonen Knife, Spiritualized, CocoRosie and many others. Among them all was New York songstress Joanna Newsom, who just revealed that Groening thanked her with a Simpson-esque drawing.
As Consequence of Sound points out, the picture, viewable above, showcases Newsom with a harp, standing in front of a British photo booth. Naturally, Newsom was excited to enter the canon of four-fingered characters, telling the Guardian, "Holy shit! I'm a Simpson! I made it... I don't need a damn Grammy or anything. That's the sort of magic all this madness is for."
While we're excited for Newsom, we can't help but wonder if Groening and co. took on other festival participants with some pictures. We'd love to see what they did with CocoRosie.
