Husky-voiced vet Mark Lanegan previously revealed that much of his album Phantom Radio was made using a phone app called FunkBox, and we can hear that in action on "Floor of the Ocean."
The song has a distinct new wave atmosphere, as nocturnal synths swell and twinkle overtop of a shimmying electronic beat. Some watery guitars play moody, slow-moving licks, while Lanegan adds to the restrained mood with his earthy croon. Hear it below.
Phantom Radio is due out on October 20 on Heavenly Recordings.
