A man has been arrested after making a false bomb threat in line for Doja Cat's concert in Indianapolis, IN, this Saturday (January 8).

The pop star/rapper played a free outdoor show at Monument Circle downtown ahead of today's College Football Playoff National Championship — an annual postseason invitational tournament and the highest level of college football competition in the US. In spite of Omicron being at large, people flocked to Indianapolis by the thousands over the weekend to take part in the festivities surrounding the event.

Naturally, the promise of hearing earworms like "Kiss Me More" and "Get Into It (Yuh)" from Doja's Planet Her drew a large crowd. And since patience is a virtue, one fan apparently grew particularly tired of waiting around and resorted to drastic measures.

Eager to secure his entrance to the first-come, first-served performance, a man decided to tell nearby concertgoers that he had a bomb in his backpack — a famously fine, normal thing to say — at around 5 p.m.

"A fan wanted to advance in line so he exercised very poor judgment and told those around him in line he had a bomb in his backpack," explained Joshua Barker, deputy chief for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) [via The Indianapolis Star].

A fellow attendee alerted the police and the man was immediately searched. The backpack was found clean and free of explosive devices, but he was taken into custody for unrelated outstanding warrants. An investigation is still ongoing.

After a slight delay of about 20 minutes, the Saturday evening concert thankfully went on as scheduled.

See the statement IMPD posted to Twitter below. As of press time, neither Doja Cat nor the concert's opening act — trio of brothers AJR — have commented on the incident.

Recently, Doja said that she doesn't think she needs to continue working with producer Dr. Luke — who has been accused of assault by Kesha — in the future, following admitting that she wasn't having fun making music anymore.
